Upcoming Event: Juliana Delgado Lopera
On August 2, 2018 Juliana Delgado Lopera (¡Cuéntamelo! Oral Histories by LGBT Latino Immigrants), will be performing her poetry at the Museum of the African Diaspora for the series Poets Speak: Community Voices 2018 (hosted by the Bay Area's Nomadic Press). During this series, she and other poets will reflect on the themes of MoAD's current exhibitions, After the Thrill is Gone: Fashion, Politics and Culture in Contemporary South African Art and Digitalia: Art & The Economy of Ideas, by reading and discussing original work in the galleries among the pieces that inspired them. The series culminates with an evening wine and performance by the participating poets on August 16.

Author Updates: LeAnne Howe
LeAnne Howe (Chocktalking on Other Realities, and more) is a featured poet in the new anthology, New Poets of Native Nations (Graywolf Press, 2018) - the first comprehensive anthology of Native poets to be published in 30 years! (Also, in case you missed it, Publisher's Weekly had named Choctalking as one of its "10 Essential Native American Novels" back in February!) This book will include an excerpt of Savage Conversations (Coffeehouse Press, Forthcoming 2019), which Aunt Lute friends got a taste of when she read at our "Our Indigenous Flesh" event with ire'ne lara silva at Galeria de la Raza in 2015. Lastly, Kore Press, published a report of an AWP Panel that LeAnne Howe participated in, titled "Erasures, White Shame: We Need to Talk". This panel took place on March 3rd, and featured Howe, Natalia Treviño , Ching-In Chen, Wendy Barker, and Rita Dove. Recent Author Events: ire'ne lara silva
On July 27, 2018 Austin-based poet ire'ne lara silva (flesh to bone, Imaniman: Poets Writing in the Anzaldúan Borderlands) participated in a night of poetry followed by an open-mic for El Tallercito's Writers Conference, where attendees were invited to "build literary citizenship in North Texas".
