Teacher at Point Blank Author Interview & Book Review

Jo Scott-Coe, author of Teacher at Point Blank: Confronting Sexuality, Violence, and Secrets in a Suburban School, spoke with feminist blogger Amanda Marcotte on the United Nations’ “RH Reality Check” podcast. In the interview, Jo discusses the feminization of the teaching profession and the implications of violence, sexual harassment, and self-silencing that result in a “pink-collar” workforce where 8 out of 10 teachers are women. You can listen to the full interview here.

Teacher at Point Blank was also reviewed in Elevate Difference (formerly known as Feminist Review). The review calls the book “a deeply personal and sad narrative” that examines the enormous pressures that teachers encounter in the classroom. The review can be seen here.
