News and Notes 4/26: Local Happenings

Cheers for Give OUT Day!

Aunt Lute Books would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to all of our supporters who were able to make donations on Give OUT Day, the national day of giving for the LGBT community. Your generous support helps make it possible for us to sustain our operations and continue our mission of publishing the voices of women of color, queer women, and others whose stories have been traditionally underrepresented in publishing. We're so grateful to be part of a vibrant community that sees the value of our work and continues to support us.

Winners of our Give OUT Day raffle will be notified this week!

Get excited for the Bay Area Book Festival

National Poetry Month is wrapping up, Indie Bookstore Day is Saturday, and the Bay Area Book Festival is this weekend! So many reasons to come out and join Aunt Lute Books in Berkeley.

The Bay Area Book Festival is going down this weekend! "The Festival is a two-day event complete with literary sessions presenting top authors from this region, the nation, and the world, along with an outdoor fair with hundreds of literary exhibitors. We also offer events for kids and writing contests. We even have a mini film festival — a series of ten films on literature — with BAMPFA. We transform vibrant Downtown Berkeley into a literary utopia where readers of all ages and interests can find kindred spirits." BABF takes place in Berkeley, 4/28-4/29, and Aunt Lute Books will be selling our titles for up to 50% off. Come through, say hi to our staff, and buy some books! Find us on Radical Row: MLK between Allston and Center.

Celebrate Asian American film, music and food at CAAMFest

The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) presents CAAMFest, the world's largest showcase for new Asian American and Asian film, food and music programs, annually presenting over 100 works in San Francisco and Oakland. This year's festival is happening 5/10-5/24. For this year's CAAMFest, Aunt Lute Books is excited to co-present the film Meditation Park, a light-hearted feature filled with self-love and liberation. The film was directed by Mina Shum, and stars Sandra Oh, Pei-Pei Cheng and Tzi Ma. Meditation Park will be screened at AMC Kabuki 8 on 5/15, beginning at 6pm. You can grab your tickets here!
