Ukraine, Imperialism, and White Supremacy

Over the course of the last few weeks, we, along with the rest of the world, have watched with horror as events have unfolded both in Ukraine and at the borders of other countries as refugees have been forced to flee the war. Much of what we are witnessing is steeped in the injustice of patriarchy and white supremacy, and as an intersectional feminist organization, we want to express our solidarity with those who who are suffering violence and other harms.

We stand with the Ukrainian people against the gross and violent imperialism executed by Russia’s invasion.

We also stand with the queer and Black refugees against the outright white supremacy, colorism, and anti-LGBTQIA+ discrimination at the borders as Ukrainian refugees seek asylum.

We stand against the racist rhetoric coming from white newscasters and reporters who claim this to be the first time they are witnessing violence from and against people that “look like them.”

We stand against imperialism and state-sanctioned violence across all nations. In the past few years alone we have seen similar insurgencies and violent outbreaks in Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Somalia, and so many more. All peoples experiencing harm deserve our solidarity, not just white ones.

We are sharing resources for refugees, organizations and people to support, and information for those seeking to learn more from those directly impacted by these situations.
