San Francisco is beginning to tremble in anticipation for Litquake. This year’s Litquake spans October 10-18, ending with Lit Crawl, a night of readings and author events at participating venues. Litquake seeks to foster interest in literature for people of all ages, perpetuate a sense of literary community, and provide a vibrant forum for Bay Area writing as a complement to the city’s music, film, and cultural festivals. Come and get to know your literary community!
This year, make sure to mark your calendar for RADAR Presents Sister Spit, Co-Sponsored by Aunt Lute Books. This exciting edition of Sister Spit takes place October 18th at 7:15 pm at The Lexington Club in San Francisco. Performers include Thomas Page Mcbee, Maryam Farnaz Rostami, Virgie Tovar, and Antonia Crane.

Virgie Tovar is a hot fat Latina femme writer and activist. She is the editor of Hot & Heavy: Fierce Fat Girls on Life, Love and Fashion (Seal Press, November 2012). She holds a Master’s degree in Human Sexuality with a focus on the intersections of body size, race and gender. After teaching “Female Sexuality” at the University of California at Berkeley, she went onto host “The Virgie Show” (CBS Radio) in San Francisco. She lives in San Francisco and offers workshops, lectures and coaching worldwide. Virgie has toured North America with Sister Spit: The Next Generation.
Thomas Page McBee writes the column “Self-Made Man” for The Rumpus and his essays on masculinity have been featured in The New York Times, TheAtlantic.com, VICE, BuzzFeed, and Salon. He is the author of Man Alive: A True Story of Violence, Forgiveness and Becoming a Man (City Lights/Sister Spit 2014). Check out the book party for this title on Oct. 9th.
Antonia Crane is a writer, performer and visiting professor at UCSD where she teaches Media Writing to students who know more about Tumblr than she does. She’s a columnist on The Rumpus and a contributing editor at The Weeklings and The Citron Review. Her work can be found in: Playboy, Cosmopolitan, Salon, PANK magazine, DAME, Slake Los Angeles, and The Los Angeles Review. Her memoir, Spent, was published by Barnacle Books/Rare Bird Lit.
